Boy or girl?

What do you think, folks? Our big ultrasound is a week from tomorrow and I honestly have no clue what is inside of me (how's that for mother's intuition?)

Please vote and let us know what you think!

2nd Annual Beach trip

Last June, the Silvestros headed out with the McGees on our first annual (is that an oxymoron?) beach trip. We had an amazing time with our two girls who were not yet walking (Addie wasn't even crawling) or talking and were such different little kids than the big girls we have now! Check out the pictures from last year, if nothing else to see Addie's hilarious chubby frowny face at the beach--totally cracked me up!

This year we went to the same house again, but we were missing Stevo, who unfortunately was on call that weekend, and had a new little member of the group--Shannon's little sister Kelly, who at about 6 months was just a month younger than Addie was when we went last June! Time flies, folks, time flies.

The afternoon that Addie and I arrived was sunny and we headed to the beach--much fun was had (still loves the sand, still suspicious of the water), but no photos were taken by either family. This was unfortunate because we woke up the next morning to...RAIN. What to do with two toddlers when it's raining and you're stuck inside? Actually...you can get quite a bit done!

We stayed active by practicing yoga...

...and dancing on the crab.

We cooked a lot. The girls helped out--spatula's ready?

We even cooked an art project...homemade playdough!

WORMS!!!

Other art projects created this wekend included lovely watercolors and requested variations of elmo--as seen in the foreground

We played board games. This one the girls dubbed "monies" and made their own rules.

The girls got a kick out of going in and out of this door. And yes, you guessed it, one of them got their finger caught--it was Addie, but she recovered quite quickly :)

Lots of hugs and cuddles...

...and giggles with little Kelly

Kelly wanted to be a big girl like Shannon and Addie, but...I don't think she's quite old enough to partake in an adult beverage like Red Stripe :)
We made a pilgramage to the Island Creamery like last year--this year the big girls were able to enjoy...

...but Kelly had to settle for licking the extra's off of Jodi's cheek :)

Luckily, in the afternoon it stopped raining, so we were able to go to the beach, but it was overcast and a little chilly, so no swimming was done (much to Shannon's dismay, Addie wasn't too broken-hearted) but there was a lot of fun in the sand.

Oh yeah--Shannon and Kelly's grandparents joined us for part of the trip!

Windy family portraits :)

McGee fam, we can't wait to do this again next year when there will be another kiddo (and of course, Stevo)!

Meet Indy!

They say the second kid always gets the shaft (just ask Uncle Doug where all his baby pictures are---on slides, thank you early 80's ;). Well, Addie's first ultrasound pic was posted as the VERY FIRST post of this blog back in May 2007 when I was 12 weeks pregnant. I didn't get around to posting this pic until today and I'm 15 weeks pregnant with Indy....side note:

Steve jokes that we're going to call this kid (whether it's a boy or girl) Indiana Jones Silvestro (don't worry, it's already vetoed), so we've been calling him Indy.

BUT! I didn't get around to posting a belly pic with Addie until week 17 (mostly because there wasn't much belly until then, but shhh) but here they are...15 weeks pregnant with little Indy :)

Proud big sister :) Addie also points to HER belly and says knowingly "baby" :)

Field Trips!

Coordinating an outing for half a day (either pre-afternoon nap or post-nap) can seem daunting (what snacks will we pack? Where will we go? What will the weather be like? Raincoats or sunblock? Will Addie have fun or be a crank?) but it's always well worth the effort. So much fun to be had!!

A few weekends ago, our little family went on a hike. We started out at the Long Branch Nature Center (if you live in the No. Virginia area and haven't been there, please check it out!) and then walked along the paths...

...played pooh sticks on the bridges...
Said "Hi!" to the reflections in puddles
....went rock skipping....

...stopped for the necessary snack...

...checked out some bugs...

...we even stalked a butterfly who hung around us for a good 10 minutes...

Okay, Addie did a lot more of "riding daddy's shoulders" than actual hiking, but overall, the family hike was a lot of fun!

On a Tuesday morning Addie and I went with our friends Jen and Maya to the Live Butterfly exhibit at the Natural History Museum.

We moved Addie's carseat so we could go all together.

Waiting for the museum to open

The outside of the butterfly house

The inside--it was so cool! Well, no it was actually hot and humid :) You have to walk into one room, then wait until they open the next door to go in so no butterflies escape.

2 butterflies lounging.

MASSIVE butterflies on a pineapple.

Before leaving the exhibit, you have to go into another room and look into the mirrors to make sure that there are no "hitchhikers" leaving with you. Did any butterflies hitch a ride with us?

After the girls were done on the inside, they enjoyed running around outside the Smithsonian Castle.

Snack picnic!

Enjoying the sites of DC :)

And for our last field trip, Addie and I went out to Vienna to visit our friend's Sarah and Anna at one of Anna's favorite playgrounds. Addie and Anna had a great time on a merry-go-round--I haven't seen these on a playground in years!
