Drama, accessories, etc.

Addie got a book from one of Steve's colleagues recently called "Olivia Saves the Circus" about a precocious young pig with quite a flair for the theatrics. Addie and Olivia have a lot of similarities. As you know, Addie is our diva--she's VERY dramatic and throws herself into imaginary play. She LOVES to act out stories from her books and her favorite story role is Cinderella--she makes me be the fairy godmother AND the prince...it's quite entertaining--tickets will be available soon.

Addie will also assign us roles and make us stay in those roles for some time. "You teacher, I'm student" "You librarian, I'm big girl" "You Q, I'm Weepee" (no clue where she came up with that last one, but it's a consistent game we have). The funny thing is, LONG after we're done playing school, she'll STILL call us by our roles---as in 30 minutes later, "Teacher, can I have snack?" She's also been playing "Baby" a lot since Cole came (surprise surprise) and she speaks in a high pitched voice when she's baby. She'll speak that way for a good hour or two. And if she goes down for a nap as Baby, then when she wakes up from her nap, she calls out for us...as Baby in her high pitched voice--she never forgets her character :)

Olivia accessorizes her school uniform in the book and Addie asked us what "accessorize" means,
and well--I think Addie already knows since she does a lot of it herself! Some of these are a little blurry, but I think they make some good examples. Addie rarely goes out of the house without adding some little "flair" of her own :)

The ever-present rainboots. I'm SO glad I spent the $17 on these at Target last year and yes, they still fit!

My favorite because the hat--oh that santa hat is on Addie's head ALL the time. And why NOT wear it to the playground?

And so you don't think we've forgotten our newest little one...a few cute ones to whet your appetite.

Hanging with Dad

We're starting tummy time...for now he's happy just sucking his hand

He's starting to smile!!! :) I *swear* this one had nothing to do with gas.

We started our garden this weekend! Thanks to Gaga for everything. Addie had a BLAST digging with her own shovel!

Hope you enjoyed the post!
Love,
"Q and Weepee" :)

An assortment

We LOVE that Addie loves the Beatles!

Addie and Cole's great aunt Judy is in town and Addie loves how Judy reads to her

And great uncle Alex brought Addie the biggest present she's ever gotten--a power wheels Barbie Jeep! Yes, this thing really works--it even has a working radio!

Addie enjoyed the summer-like weather last week. We filled up her baby tub with water to play outside.

Spring Holidays

Last year we celebrated Easter and Passover on the same day. This year we had two separate celebrations, and tons of fun!

We started the easter celebration a couple of weekends ago when I happened to say "Hey, let's color our eggs this morning" (meaning...hey, let's put food coloring in our scrambled eggs to make "green eggs and ham" or something--you know, always trying to get Addie to eat more protein ;) and Addie--in her infinite wisdom of all things Curious George and has a Curious George Easter book and says "Dye Easter eggs?" Um...oh, yeah sure. So we headed to the store to get dye and eggs and had a blast.

Last weekend, Uncle Dan and Gaga came over to help celebrate Passover. I took this one picture of our family dinner and got sidetracked so this is our only photo of our Passover.

It was also a few days after Gaga's birthday, so Addie and I made a cake. Happy birthday, Gaga!

This weekend, Yaya and Poppy came back down to help us celebrate Easter. Addie, Yaya and I set to work making place cards for the Easter brunch.

First we painted Addie's palm and her pointer and ring fingers white and pressed them down to make a bunny face and ears.

Then she used her fingertips in pink paint to make the nose and in black paint to make the eyes.

Tada!

The final result.

So we all sat down in front of our place cards to celebrate Easter brunch

Cole, too.

After brunch Addie got to open her Easter basket...

...and have an Easter egg hunt!

Checking out her loot with Daddy.

Reading her new easter books with Yaya

And this is how Cole participated in the Easter egg hunt...**snore**

Happy Holidays, friends and family!

2 weeks old

Cole had his 2 week appointment today and he's already 9lbs 10 ounces! And healthy as a very small horse :)

This kid sleeps a LOT! We're not complaining :)

When he is awake, he checks the world out through his dark gray eyes

My nickname used to be Indy...

We saw Cole sucking on his thumb at the 20-week ultrasound so we knew he had a strong sucking reflex. When he's on my shoulder and is hungry, he throws himself towards my face and latches onto my chin!

Less than a minute on the chin and check out this hickey he gave me!!

Cole: 1 week old

Much like his big sister, in Cole's first week of life on dry ground, he's already done quite a bit of stuff.

He met Gaga...

...and Yaya and Poppy.

He's slept...

...and slept...

...and slept some more.

We've taken a couple of walks in the neighborhood (he's all wrapped up under my coat).

And he's woken up just enough to realize that his house is a mess! ;)

Addie helped us with his first (sponge) bath (yes, in a pink flowery towel...sorry little dude)

...and he got his first mohawk.

But best of all, he's turned Addie into the best big sister. Ever. :)

Cole comes home

After a last swaddle in the hospital blanket and hat...

...Little Cole decided to get spruced up to meet his big sister for the first time!

This is Addie's first close-up of her new baby brother.

I'll admit, that Addie was even more thrilled by the fact that my hospital room's TV had way more channels than we do and one channel had one of her favorite shows, Caillou playing. When they brought my lunch tray, Addie feasted on rolls, grape juice and a brownie. She didn't want to go home!

But I did...so we packed up and headed back home where Addie found a surprise waiting for her--her brother had gotten her a big sister present! A new doll (whom she promptly named...wait for it...Cole...yes, even though she's well aware that her doll is a girl and that we tried to convince her that it would be confusing...she persisted) and some fun accessories like a little high chair, bouncy seat, front carrier...

...and pack n' play/playpen that I swear took Steve longer to put together than the one we have for Cole. ;)

(In his defense, the set of accessories was super cheap so it wasn't his fault that the parts are not all that well-made)

Addie loves to hold her little brother, and especially tickle him.

She drew him a picture.

And has invited him to join in our family dance parties.

I think the little guy is already a big part of this family :)
